Five Phrases Christian Women Need To Stop Saying

I love people. I worked in the helps field for 5 years and I am currently surrounded my ministry so I have experienced women at all stages of Christianity…and lack thereof. Today I want to talk about some Christian “catch phrases” that we have all heard and probably even said at some point in our journey. This post is not to condemn but to start a discussion and to challenge each others perspective.

How To Love More

I don’t know about you guys, but I am pretty good at loving the people that I want to love. I am good at loving the people that matter to me. At least I like to think that I am good at it. If I am being completely honest, my love can be conditional at times. It is hard for me to love you after you’ve hurt me. It’s hard for me to love you when I feel like I can’t trust you. And that’s just with people that are important with me.

People are difficult and they’re messy. Yet we are commanded in scripture to love them. As the church it is our job to reach out and love the unlovely but how can we do this? How can we be more loving to those that matter and those that are difficult?

Bible Verses About Love

There is a greater source of love that is available to you! There is the ultimate love! God! He literally IS love and He loves you! We are only able to love each other because He has first loved us! Here are some verses to about love to meditate on!

Bible Verses for Strength

We all have seasons in life where we feel beat down and wore out. Stress sneaks up on you and threatens to overwhelm you while you busy trying to beat worry into submission. We waste time by wasting our own resources and when we’ve worn ourselves out and gotten in over our heads, God is there to restore and replenish.

How To Trust God

If you have been in church for any period of time or been around Christians, it is likely you will be familiar with this verse:

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.” Proverbs 3:5

This is one of the catchphrase verses that all Sunday school kids memorize. It’s a verse I catch myself quoting but not really thinking about or really even applying. I mean, stop and think about it…Trust in the Lord. Easier memorized than done, right? How can we know that we trust God? How can we be sure that, regardless of what life flings at us, our trust in God will remain steadfast? What even is trust!?!? How can we trust in God?

How To Be Selfless In A Selfie World

It is still crazy to me that the word “selfie” is such a part of our everyday vocabulary. We are living in a selfie world. We have special sticks to help us take them. We have a few incredibly annoying “songs” all about taking them. We have hundreds of apps and filters to make us look better than we really do in them. Most of us have that 4 year old niece or cousin that’s better at taking them than you are. I even saw a celebrity giving a tour of her house and she had a whole section filled with commercial grade lighting and props just for taking her selfies… It’s crazy.
