Trust is such a personal and experience based concept. Learning to trust God requires getting to know Him and building a history with Him that testifies of His faithfulness. Today we are going to break down 35 powerful Bible verses about trust.

These verses on trusting God reveal what it means to trust and how to go about building that trust. They also point to why God is so incredibly trust worthy!

My journey with this has been a process. It took me facing a huge challenge to realize that I didn’t trust the Father. These verses helped me learn who He is and reminded me of all that He’s done and from that place trust began to grow!

Psalms of Trust

The Psalms are full of other believer learning to walk out trust just like we are today! As we watch their process it can encourage and inspire ours. 

Psalm 9:10

May everyone who knows your mercy keep putting their trust in you, for they can count on you for help no matter what. O Lord, you will never, no never, neglect those who come to you. Psalm 9:10 TPT

Psalm 13:5

Lord, I have always trusted in your kindness, so answer me. I will yet celebrate with passion and joy when your salvation lifts me up. Psalm 13:5 TPT

Psalm 20:7

Some find their strength in their weapons and wisdom, but my miracle deliverance can never be won by men. Our boast is in the Lord our God, who makes us strong and gives us victory! Psalm 20:7 TPT

Psalm 37:3-5

Psalm 40:4

Psalm 56:3-4

But in the day that I’m afraid, I lay all my fears before you and trust in you with all my heart. What harm could a man bring to me? With God on my side I will not be afraid of what comes. The roaring praises of God fill my heart, and I will always triumph as I trust his promises. Psalm 56:3-4 TPT

Learning To Trust God Is Beneficial 

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord completely, and do not rely on your own opinions. With all your heart rely on him to guide you, and he will lead you in every decision you make. Become intimate with him in whatever you do, and he will lead you wherever you go. Don’t think for a moment that you know it all, Proverbs 3:5-6 TPT

Proverbs 28:25

To make rash, hasty decisions shows that you are not trusting the Lord. But when you rely totally on God, you will still act carefully and prudently. Proverbs 28:25 TPT

Proverbs 29:25

Fear and intimidation is a trap that holds you back. But when you place your confidence in the Lord, you will be seated in the high place. Proverbs 29:25 TPT

Isaiah 26:3-4

Perfect, absolute peace surrounds those whose imaginations are consumed with you; they confidently trust in you. Yes, trust in the Lord Yahweh forever and ever! For Yah, the Lord God, is your Rock of Ages! Isaiah 26:3-4 TPT

Matthew 6:26

Philippians 4:6-7

Don’t be pulled in different directions or worried about a thing. Be saturated in prayer throughout each day, offering your faith-filled requests before God with overflowing gratitude. Tell him every detail of your life, then God’s wonderful peace that transcends human understanding, will make the answers known to you through Jesus Christ. Philippians 4:6-7 TPT

Just make sure you ask empowered by confident faith without doubting that you will receive. For the ambivalent person believes one minute and doubts the next. Being undecided makes you become like the rough seas driven and tossed by the wind. You’re up one minute and tossed down the next. James 1:6 TPT

Learn Who He Is

As we begin to learn who the Father is and as we learn His nature and character we build trust with Him. As we walk things out in this life and begin to notice how He always comes through and works things for our good, we build a history with Him that we can lean on in future times of hardship or change.

2 Samuel 7:28

Jeremiah 29:11

Mark 5:36

 Claim His Promises

When we learn to trust Him, we can believe Him for all of His wonderful promises. We develop an expectation for good because we know our Father is faithful and trustworthy!

Then the king was greatly pleased and ordered that Daniel be taken out of the den. So Daniel was taken out of the den, and no injury whatever was found on him, because he believed in and relied on and trusted in his God. Daniel 6:23 TPT

Proverbs 16:3

John 14:27

“I leave the gift of peace with you—my peace. Not the kind of fragile peace given by the world, but my perfect peace. Don’t yield to fear or be troubled in your hearts—instead, be courageous! John 14:27 TPT

Philippians 4:19

I am convinced that my God will fully satisfy every need you have, for I have seen the abundant riches of glory revealed to me through the Anointed One, Jesus Christ! Philippians 4:19 TPT

1 John 5:14-15
